There has never been a time before that technology influences the progress of human civilization and changes human life-style like the way it's doing today. The power of technology has never been highlighted like this time. The competence of China application innovation has been leading the world. We hope to demonstrate ChinaTech Power, stimulate the innovation competence, and push China's transformation from technology importer to technology exporter by connecting the worldwide technical communities.
In November of 2015, Geekbang and InfoQ will work together to hold a ChinaTech Day track at QCon San Francisco. Top-tier Chinese technical talents from internet companies like Alibaba, Tencent, Baidu, Cheetah will be invited to offer a feast of technology choices at ChinaTech Day. After QCon, the ChinaTech day group will pay a 2-day visit to renowned local technical companies. By ChinaTech Day, we aim to show the top tech power of China to the world, and build international technical brand of China companies, as well as enhance the communication and combination between China-America IT community.
Dr. Yuan (Alan) Qi is Vice President and Chief Data Scientist of Ant Financial Service Group. He works on large scale machine learning, Bayesian inference, and big data analytics. He obtained his PhD from MIT Media Laboratory in 2005 and worked as an postdoctoral associate at MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory until 2007. He joined Purdue University in 2007 and was tenured in 2013 as associate professor in Department of Computer Science and Department of Statistics. He has given numerous invited talks at universities and conferences, and collaborated with researchers in IT, financial and pharmaceutical industries on machine learning and data analytics problems.
At Alibaba, we aim to building a future infrastructure for global commerce. To achieve this goal, we have made significant advance in several key technical areas including (but not limited to) cloud computing, mobile technologies, trading platforms, information security, infrastructure service, search & ads, and data intelligence. According to SortBechmark in 2015, for example, AliCloud used less than 7 minutes to sort 100TB data (outperforming ApacheSpark’s record, 23.4 minutes) and made four new records in total; these new records fully demonstrate AliCloud‘s distributed computing capacity.
Bison Liao has more than 10 years of experience in Internet. He is an expert in operating systems, service clusters, and mass storage technology. Bison Liao led the development and operation of Tencent QQ user account and social network back-end system , which are at billion-record scale.
At Tencent, we refined our philosophy in Internet Services and Architecture Design and Operations, based on our 16 years of experience. We call this the “philosophy of mass Internet services”. An example of this philosophy is that the frequent upgrade and test-engineers freely co-exist in our backend team.
The philosophy consists of more than ten viewpoints and every viewpoint is a methodology, telling us the why and how. Our presentation, which has excerpts from the philosophy, discusses how to avoid massive service failures, as well as how to operate in service when necessary.
Arther Wu is currently the Senior Director of Monetization and Business Operation at Cheetah Mobile, which is a leading mobile internet company and No.1 Android Tools app provider worldwide. Previously, Wu served as Testing Engineer at Microsoft, Senior Engineer of Enterprise Security, R&D Manager of scan engine and Taiwan Manager at Trend Micro, and Director of Clean Master User Acquisition at Cheetah Mobile. He has over 16 years of experience in information security and mobile internet industry, including software development and operation strategy.
Mobile advertising has become more mature as mobile applications continue to evolve. Many top-tier internet companies, such as Google, Facebook, Twitter and Yahoo, have rolled out their own SDK with different features, but it is difficult to know which one suits your needs. We think that “ yield optimization” is the key to mobile monetization, which include the right format, scenario design and efficient usage of big data, all of which are are essential. Let’s explore more from the following practices.
Chao Han was one of famous engineer and computer science pioneer in Chinese mainland. He worked for Motorola Mobile and Wind River System on Mobile Device, Linux Platform and Android Solution field in last 10 years. He has deep and large experience in Embedded & Server Linux Platform, Android Solution and Mobile Application.
Today, more and more people search on mobile devices. Applications on mobile devices offer different users experiences in search and more features, compaired to searching behavior on a general browser.
This talk introduces the architecture and search technology of Mobile Baidu, which is the most popular mobile search application in China. Mobile Baidu provides high efficiency and multiple function searching; as well as connections between people and services for mass user and the high-concurrency situation. We will cover technologies such as combining CS and BS mode, scene service, social search and so on.
Eric Ye, is currently Ctrip CTO & SVP of Technology. He is responsible for technological transformation of CTRIP product development, transaction platforms and architecture for all channels of mobile/web/call center. Prior to CTRIP, he was director of applications and platforms at ebay. He had shaped generations of architecture and platforms of very large websites at ebay, yahoo, and startups in Silicon Valley, California.
Today, Ctrip mobile app has contributed 72% transactions to its business. It has become de facto the most popular travel App in China. What journey Ctrip has taken to get this result? In this talk, you will learn what problems Ctrip had faced in the past and how it seized the various opportunities of driving up App usage and market penetration. The author emphasizes on the importance of having right App product strategies and quick iteration of upgrading App user experience.
Haochuan Guo Chief Infrastructure Architect for Eleme. He is very familiar with Eleme’s backend business logics. Mainly focused in python, he helped to create Eleme’s python service framework and SOA. He’s also involved in building Eleme’s cache and kv db middlewares as well as monitoring and alert platform. He and his team scaled Eleme’s services by 10 times during Eleme's rapid growth in 2014, and gained a lot of lessens and experience in problem solving. Prior to Eleme, he worked at douban.com.
Eleme is the largest online food ordering service in China. At peak time, we are processing almost 300 orders per second. And just by number of orders made per day, we are the 4th largest online shopping platform in China. Along the years we’re faced with many technical problems, especially how to scale our systems to meet the requirements set by ever growing business in a short period of time. In this talk I'll share our backend architecture and how it evolves to what it is today.
Mr. Gang He graduated from University of Wisconsin-Madison with a MS degree in computer science and a MA degree in physics. Mr. He is the Vice President of Technology at JD.com, the largest self-run B2C ecommerce company in China. Mr. He oversees the cloud computing business in JD.com. Before joining JD.com, he held various executive-level managerial and technical roles in multiple Chinese and International companies including Amazon, Microsoft, Shanda, and Grand Cloud, etc.
JD is the largest B2C online direct sales company in China and has 118 million annual active customers. The GMV of 2Q 2015 is 114.5 billion RMB. The market value of JD is almost 40 billion USD. JD cloud(Jcloud) is one of the most advanced cloud computing services in China. It started from supporting JD internal IT by leveraging open source community, and JD technical team is also actively involved in open source development. It has been proved successful, that all JD mall, JD finance, and JD O2O businesses are relying on jcloud's cloud technology. Jcloud is one of the biggest OpenStack clusters, and the docker clusters in the world. Jcloud is also one of the most mature online presto and offline Hadoop data analysis platforms which are in production.
